Bilingual Grammar School (BGS) Molyko-Buea was created in 1963 with a goal to promote bilingualism in Cameroon. Its first campus was at Man ‘O War Bay Victoria, now called Limbe. It was later moved to Molyko, Buea in 1969 and on May 26th 1975, the then President of the Republic, His Excellency Ahmadou Ahidjo, personally inaugurated it.


BGS Molyko-Buea is divided into two sections, viz, the Anglophone section which runs the Anglo-Saxon Educational system from Form One to Upper Sixth and the Francophone section which runs the Francophone Educational system from Sixième to Terminale. The school from inception has been and remains the only true Bilingual School in Cameroon. This is evident in the fact that it has two classes – Quatrième Bilingue and Troisième Bilingue – in which both Anglophone and francophone students are merged. They carry out their studies following the syllabi the two sub-systems mentioned above. In Troisième all of them are made to write the BEPC and they are again encouraged one year later to write the GCE Ordinary Level Examination when they are in either Form Five or Seconde. It is thanks to this policy that a good number of the perfectly bilingual elite of Cameroon were trained.

Entry into BGS Molyko-Buea is by a competitive entrance examination for all classes except the Lower Sixth where a special commission is set up to select students based on their performance in the GCE O’ Level Examination as well as on the space that is available.

Bilingual Grammar School is located on a 36 hectar land in Molyko, the academic seat of Buea. Molyko is found on the east and is at the main entrance of Buea. It hosts a number of other academic institutions like The University of Buea, The Government Technical High School, The Government Teacher Training College and a host of other privates schools. Buea for its part is located on the flanks of the active volcanic Mount Cameroon.

Soit un total général de 113 enseignants titulaires, l’insuffisance des enseignants dans certaines matières, a fait en sorte que l’établissement s’attache les services des enseignants vacataires, ils sont au nombre de 21.

A coté de ces enseignants, il faut signaler un service de conseil et d’orientation animé par une équipe e deux dynamiques conseillers d’orientation scolaire et universitaire.

Le Lycée Bilingue de Molyko-Buea compte 3778 élèves repartes ainsi qu’il suit :

2. Deux laboratoires permettant les travaux pratiques en physique (Physics) , Chimie (Chemistry) et S.T.V (Biology).
3. Une (01) salle des professeurs moderne (climatisée et équipée d’ordinateurs)

5. Une bibliothèque pour consultation sur place (livres au programme et hors programme, journaux) équipée de 02 ordinateurs pour consultation.
6. Une infirmerie momentanément fermée.
7. Un gymnase multidisciplinaire (capacité plus de 500 places)
8. Des terrains de jeux (football, handball, basket-ball,…).
9. Un bloc administratif.
10. Un centre de Ressources Multimédia équipé de 62 ordinateurs.
11. Un internat et un réfectoire aujourd’hui fermés.
Sur les 36ha, il reste évidement un vaste espace sur lequel ont été créés des champs scolaires (culture du maïs, tomate, choux, igname, banane plantain et douce, légumes diverses…)
